I have created quite a few new, unique animals for the novel series, and I am preparing an animals, creatures, people file to present to the readers with a pronunciation key and picture with each description of the animal, creature, or person involved. It isn't quite done yet because I've so much else on the go at the same time. And I'm not quite the artist I sometimes wish I was. I will include some of the animals here that I have finished. They're from the first book. In time, I may include animals you haven't seen yet because they're in a later book. They're alive and about at the beginning. There's just so much going on that I can't get to introducing you to them all at once without really confusing you. I don't aim to confuse people on purpose. Anyway, enjoy. If there's an animal or creature you'd like pictured here, let me know. There's an email address on the Contest page you can contact me through, and there's always the Contact tab above. I hope you enjoy.
Cassilon
Cassilon have the length of three grown men. They were once found in greater numbers, but now, they're rarely seen. Few even know they exist for that matter. More often then not, when seen, this carnivorous beast is compared to the Cassiloni-Te, a smaller herbivore that once filled the plains. The Cassiloni-Te were herbivores, of course, but their orange colouration and general build, not size, matches. And they could also shift between the living and spirit worlds.
Kilvat
I kind of warned you I wasn't great as an artist. This is my sketch of a kilvat (kill-vat). They're the animals that attack the rebels in their forest base after Grocia and his grandfather 'join' them. They didn't have as much attitude until I drew them this way and decided I like it as such. You have to imagine them brown, of course. They're just drawn in pen.
Jaderr
The jaderr (ja-dare) are, in my mind, one of the coolest animals I've created for my novels. They're blind, purple, and blue. What more could you want? They're excellent survivors too. Anyway, these are the animals Grocia, Felissa, and Eltoq found in the Spider's Den on the way to the town with no name. You have to imagine the purple and blue.
Olwehfi
The olwehfi (ole[roll the l]-we[soft e]-fi[strong i], yes, I wish my keyboard did soft and strong vowel markers for typing, anyway, the olwehfi are the flying animals that join in during the final battle at the end of Book 1. Their ancestors, the naqualeire (na[soft a]-ka[soft a]-lee-air), are pictured following. When the naqualeire landed or died, the smell would spoil crops and trees. Where they'd landed or died would need to be burned. There is no mention in any text when the naqualeire died out or exactly how or when the olwehfi came into being.
Clantienn
The clantienn (clan-tee-n), yes, I like adding french accents to my made-up names/titles, are arctic animals from Book 2 and on. This, therefore, is a preview of an animal to come. I'll include some dragon previews maybe later. Or when those books become available.
