Travel Companions
The Travel Game
Travel Companions is a Travelling Game. It’s designed to be played in the car, in a plane, on a boat, or on a bus seat while you wait for your connecting ride. It might be a game you play while hiking up a mountain, on rest stop in front of a raging sunrise! However you’re travelling, and wherever you’re going, Travel Companions is designed to be portable and fun for people/players on the go!

As such, the rules set and “How to Play” is relatively simple.
You have three heroes to choose from as your main fighter.

You also have six support pieces, your Companions.
You’ll need one dice with six sides, a six-sided di, 1d6.
You will also likely want a set of Battle Pods. They’re a three-step podium of sorts! You chosen Hero stands on the tallest pod with the two chosen Companions standing on a lower pod each.

The actual gameplay in detail is described in what follows. Enjoy the game, and let me know what you think. I love feedback!
Stage 1
Select your Hero
Adventurer, Paladin, or Wizard
Stage 2
Roll two Di
This is the Roll Damage Phase
Roll 1d6. This is your Roll Damage performed this turn.
Roll a second d6. This is your Defensive Stance this turn. This is how much damage you can take without losing any HP (Hit Points).
Stage 3
Consider the Perks
There are Perks in this game depending on which Hero you selected.
With Adventurer (Speed +1), you roll a second time (after Roll Damage and Defensive Stance has been calculated). If you Roll 2 or 4 on a six-sided di (1d6), you dodge the incoming attack. On that turn where you’ve rolled 2 or 4 on 1d6, you take 0 Battle Damage.
With the Wizard (Double Cast), you roll a second time (after Roll Damage and Defensive Stance has been calculated). If you Roll a 3 or 4 on 1d6, you do twice the Roll Damage.
With the Paladin (Counter), you roll a second time (after Roll Damage and Defensive Stance has been calculated). If you Roll 1 or 5 on 1d6, you perform a Counter Hit. You take no damage that turn but deliver half of the incoming Roll Damage back on your attacker.
Stage 4
Choose up to 2 Companions
Go into Battle with your Companions. Companions have their own Perks as well! They don’t fight, but they help you out in other ways, by combining their Perks with your own.
Page, Tailor, Merchant, Smithe, Minstrel, Traveller
With the Page (Sharpening Stone), add +1 to your Roll Damage for that turn.
With the Smithe (Upgrade Skill), add +1 to your Defensive Stance for that turn.
With the Traveller (Archaic Trinket), resurrect your Hero at 10 HP once per game.
With the Merchant (Potion Stock), add 2 to your total HP each turn, if you’re still alive.
With the Tailor (Good Silk), add +1 to your Defensive Stance for that turn.
With the Minstrel (Inspiring Ballad), add +1 to your Roll Damage for that turn.
Stage 5
Calculate Final Battle Damage
You start the game with 20 HP.
The Incoming Attack minus your Defensive Stance equals the Battle Damage you take to your HP. Calculate your Perks (from your Hero and their Companions). So it’s Attack minus your Defensive Stance, considering Perks, which gives you your Final Battle Damage. You subtract the Final Battle Damage from your remaining HP. When you run out of HP, you pass out and lose the fight. Each player calculates Battle Damage. If both players pass out in the same turn, it’s a Draw, and nobody wins.
Final Numbers – Did you survive?
Keep fighting until someone comes out the Victor!
